Costumes for school productions

Costumes for school productions need to be authentic, effective, and look great on stage.

We successfully supply hundreds of costumes per year for a variety of school plays and productions for ages ranging from 9 – 18 years.

This year we have costumed in excess of 58 shows, often with casts of over 50, for the Sound of Music, which is still as popular as ever, Les Miserables and Guys and Dolls.

Sweeney Todd has also been popular this year, together with The Crucible, the study of which forms part of the National Curriculum.

More unusual productions we have provided costumes for include L’atalier, which is set in 1940’s France and the Resistable Rise of Arturo Ui, using gangster costume styles from 1920s America.

Other fabulous show costumes we have provided for schools this year include; Calamity Jane, Oklahoma, Bugsy Malone and Oliver Twist.

We offer very competitive rates for school and youth productions and it is so simple to order. Just e-mail us on info@admiralcostumes.co.uk and we can send you a booking form, measurement form and costume plot.

We pride ourselves on being able to work to any budget, so call us on 01908 372504 to discuss any costume requirements you may have – no order is too

Vintage photo-shoot in Bletchley

Our vintage photo-shot in Bletchley was a great success, providing us with a set of gorgeous photos for our website and other promotional material.

Glamorous ladies from Newton Longville did a superb job of modelling the 40s tea dresses, suits and jackets, outdoor wear and evening dresses with stoles.

The men sported all kinds of 40s apparel ranging from suits and coats, uniforms, collarless shirts and braces and even kilts.

Our schoolgirl looked charming in her gymslip, straw boater and girls school cape against the backdrop of the Rectory Cottage doors.

Inspired use of the piano at the venue gave us some great photo opportunities for a group shot sing-a-long.

Our authentic vintage costumes and accessories are suitable for Goodwood, Twinwood, Chatham Docks and other 40s events and parties.

A big thank you to all those who took part; with especial thanks to John Jeffries, for the photos and the direction of Lisa Bridge and Adam Philpott.

Twinwood Festival – Vintage Wear to dance for

This year the 14th Twinwood vintage music and dance festival was held from 29th – 31st August at the Glen Miller museum in Clapham, Bedford. The wartime airbase provides a magnificent backdrop for the live entertainment, with music and dancing from the 40’s, 50s and 60s.

With jazz, swing, blues and rockabilly being played in the hanger, army hut and at the control tower, the atmosphere was truly nostalgic of the wartime era.

Not only the performers were dressed in style, the audience wore clothing and accessories from the 40s and 50s and danced on the open dance areas. There is even a gorgeous woodland glade to dance in when the sun goes down, that is lit by lanterns.

Our store in Newton Longville, Milton Keynes, is only 10 miles from the Glen Miller museum in Clapham, Bedford where the Twinwood Festival takes place and we have lots of styles for hire at very reasonable rates.

If you need a fabulous vintage outfit for the Twinwood Festival, or other forties event, then visit Admiral Costumes in Newton Longville and choose from our extensive range of fashions from the 1940’s to the 70’s.

Choose from gorgeous 50’s spot dresses, 40’s vintage wear, land army girl dungarees, dresses, suits and accessories. For the gents we have a choice of military uniforms, double breasted suits, striped blazers, tweed suits set off with trilby hats and braces.

Come and take a look at what we have to offer and wear something unique and truly vintage on your day out.
