Ragtime the Musical

Based on the distinguished novel by E L Doctorow, Ragtime is not only a very powerful portrait of American life at the turn of the 19th century, but also a relevant tale for today.

The musical intertwines the stories of three extraordinary families as they face up to what it means to live in America. The music by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty is extremely diverse, with brass band marches, to waltzes and period parlour songs.

The performance of Ragtime this week by the Weston-Super –Mare Operatic  Society, has given patrons a rare opportunity to enjoy this excellent piece.

Admiral Costumes are delighted to have supplied costumes for this show  www.admiralcostumes.co.uk

Titanic costumes

The centenary of the sinking of the Titanic has sparked a host of parties and events using the Titanic as a theme. 1912 was a wonderful era for clothing for the wealthy, with elegant high waisted day and evening wear for the ladies and sophisticated tailcoats and cravats or bow ties for the gents.

Admiral Costumes have a good selection of naval jackets, sailor costumes and the baggy trousers, braces, collarless shirts and caps associated with 3rd class passengers.

For 1st class lady passengers, a choice of elegant evening dresses, together with period costume jewelry, long gloves and evening bags makes suitable attire for re-enacting life on board the Titanic.
