Many schools have their main school drama production in July
each year which often involves many pupils from across all the year groups.
Costuming for in excess of 150 pupils can be a challenge,
but with our huge stock range, we are able to accommodate most requirements.
Most recently we supplied costumes for a junior school
production of The Life and Times of William Shakespeare which involved children
from reception up to year 6 in scenes from Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, The
Tempest and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Year 6 produced the Romeo and Juliet scene with some
beautiful costumes for not only the main characters and fairies, but Puck,
Bottom and Francis Flute.
Year 5 were divided into citizens from Athens with the boys
and girls wearing Greek style clothing. The rest of the year produced Macbeth
with traditional style witches and wizards complete with broomsticks.
Year 4 performed the tempest with some great sailor style costumes
for the captain and bosun, a matching set of 10 sailor boy outfits and some
ragged clothes for Prospero and Miranda.
Year 3 had some lovely costumes for Romeo and Juliet in
medieval style with the party goers all donned in tudor dresses or tunics with
feathered hats.
All the younger children were poor villagers from Stratford upon
Avon and had dull worn clothes, with shawls, mob caps, caps and jerkins.
All of our costumes are of a quality and traditional style that
is difficult to source these days and perfect for period pieces like
Shakespeare, making them popular with schools for reception right up to year
13.
Other shows we have costumed for schools this year include:
The Sound of Music, Dr Faustus, Bugsy Malone, Guys and Dolls, Oh What Lovely War, Twist and Shout and Our Country’s
Good.
