The
Accrington Pals is another superb WW1 themed play written by Peter Whelan in
1982. It tells the story about the 700 man
strong, Accrington battalion, (11th East Lancashire regiment) and
the attack on Serre on 1st July 1916.
This
authentic turn of the century piece contrasts life on the front line at the
Battle of the Somme with the lives of the women left behind in Accrington,
Lancashire.
Silsoe
Drama have just completed an excellent production of this moving play, directed
by Rachel Hickey, and we are delighted that some of our uniforms and period
costumes have been employed for the WW1 atmospheric scenes.
