1940's Vintage Wear

The 1940’s was a challenging decade for Britain recovering from WW2, with rationing still in place for materials making clothing scarce and many items were ‘make do and mend’.

Floral prints dominated the early 1940’s with skirt length just below the knee and skirts less full to save materials.

Padded and puffed shoulders created the style for the decade with small round or sweetheart collars.

Women’s hair was rolled and pleated forming elegant styles.

Admiral Costumes have an excellent  range of 1940’s style clothing for hire, suitable for theatrical productions, period plays and events like the Goodwood festival.
