Costumes for strolls

Another fun afternoon at Swingwood held in Wingrave on Sunday 4th August, gave us another opportunity to showcase our specialist vintage clothing rail and our gorgeous made to measure 50’s wear.

Not only did we mingle and chat with some of the fantastic swing dancers who had turned up to swing to the live band, but we were privileged to be able to join in on one of the stroll dance workshops.

Stroll dancing became popular in the 1950’s and is a great mixer dance for uneven numbers of ladies and gents. The Shim Sham stroll originated in America and has a very cool and laid back style.

The 50’s rock n Roll stroll workshop was followed by freestyle swing to a live band.

Swing dancers love to wear colourful stylish clothing that flows and moves to the music and our made to measure 50’s style spot dresses proved extremely popular, with the men requiring Hawaiian style shirts and loose fitting trousers.

We have an excellent range of 50’s wear available for hire together with vintage wear from all eras at our costume store in Newton Longville.
