Flash Harry is a delightful fictional character from the St
Trinians series of films, first appearing in 1954, played by George Cole.
He is described as ‘an ostentatious, loudly dressed and
unusually ill-mannered man’, officially ‘the chairman of the board of governors’
at St Trinians school for girls.
Flash Harry is a cockney who partakes in many shady
dealings, but thoroughly trusted by the pupils.
He helps bottle and sell the gin that the girls distil in the school
chemistry lab, places bets for them on the horses and runs a matrimonial agency
for teenage 6th form girls, setting them up with wealthy men.
Flash Harry makes an excellent choice of character for fancy
dress parties or 50’s events.
